Abia Government Teams Up With ISPON To Enforce Safety Standards

LAGOS – The Abia State Government has pledged to strengthen workplace and public safety through a new partnership with the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) as part of its broader industrialisation agenda.

Governor Dr. Alex Otti, represented by Deputy Governor Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving ISPON’s national leadership led by President, Chief Dr. Stephen Udezi, at Government House, Umuahia.

Otti described ISPON’s offer of technical advisory support and free safety audits as timely, noting that Abia’s growing industrial base requires strict safety standards.

“Everything good now finds its way to Abia State,” the Governor said.

“This administration is committed to working with professional bodies to drive sustainable development and good governance.”

The state will consider ISPON’s request for support for its 2026 Professional Development Conference and AGM scheduled for October 14-16 in Umuahia.
